SIA CLOSE PROTECTION TOP UP

As of 01 April 2022, the Level 3 Close Protection course has increased to 18 days to include the additional training requirements set out by the SIA, including the compulsory modules around working as a Door Supervisor and Physical Intervention for both Close Protection Operatives and Door Supervisors.

This 3-Day Up-Skill/Top-Up Course has been implemented to align existing SIA Close Protection License holders with the updated modules of training.

SKILLS PREREQUISITES

  • Existing Close Protection qualification that needs updating
  • Be able to communicate effectively in written and spoken English
  • A current First-Aid Level 3 or similar medical certification

REQUIRED EQUIPMENT

  • Casual clothing (Jeans, t-shirt, polo, comfortable footwear)
  • Smart wear (Dark Suit, shirt, tie and shoes)

  • Actions to take in the event of a terror threat
  • Procedures for dealing with suspicious items
  • Behaviours that could indicate suspicious activity
  • Response to suspicious behaviour

  • Queue management and venue capacity responsibilities relevant to a door supervisor
  • Requirements of providing clear and concise instructions to the principal and team members in emergency situations

  • Responsibilities of the close protection team when there is an immediate physical threat to the principal
  • The necessity for narrowing the concentric layers of protection when managing an immediate threat to the principal
